Merece especial mención en este blog, a esta joven banda de Guadalajara (México). The Highwayman - Highwayman

Temazo del grupo "The Highwayman" formado por Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings y Willie Nelson, cuatro leyendas del country cantando juntas.
La canción tambien llamada "Highwayman" es un cover de Jimmy Webb, editada en 1985 por Columbia Records despues de que llegará a lo mas alto en los rankings de country del momento.
La temática de la canción es básicamente la muerte y la reencarnación.
En la primera estrofa Willie Nelson, representa el personaje de un ladrón que finalmente es atrapado y ahorcado por sus delitos. En la segunda Kris Kristofferson representa a un marinero que muere en la mar debido a una gran tormenta. En la tercera Waylon Jennings representa a un constructor de presas que muere por una caída despues de un tropiezo en la obra. Todos ellos al finalizar la historia terminan la estrofa con una frase del tipo "pero aun sigo vivo". Finalmente Johnny Cash, con una estrofa un tanto trascendental, cuenta que volará con una nave intergaláctica por todo el universo. Lo que se da a entender, es que ya sea en ladrón, sea en marinero o en cualquier otra cosa, se volverá a reencarnar en otro personaje. Aquí teneis el video de esta canción:

Die Toten Hosen - Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau

La primera review de este blog va dedicada a una de las mejores bandas de punkrock que han salida de tierras germánicas, Die Toten Hosen, y en particular a uno de sus mejores discos para mi gusto, "Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau".
Este álbum fue editado en 1988 y es el quinto de la banda alemana. La mayoria de canciones de este disco fueron escritas para una adptación teatral de La Naranja Mecánica en la ciudad de Bonn, donde los propies componentes de la banda participaban como figurantes en la misma y tocaban las canciones del álbum en directo.
La temática de las canciones, como ya os podeis imaginar, gira alrededor de La Naranja Mecánica. El listado de canciones es el siguiente:

La canción "Hier kommt Alex" fue la que hizo saltar a la fama a esta banda que actualmente ha recorrido medio mundo con sus giras, y tiene hordas de fans a nivel mundial.

Imelda May en Barcelona

El proximo sábado 21 de noviembre estará actuando en Barcelona la vocalista Imelda May dentro del 41 Voll-Damm Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona.

Imelda May es una vocalista de estética pin-up nacida en Dublin (Irlanda) donde principalmente su estilo es el rockabilly, todo y tener algunas canciones en una onda mas jazzistica.
Hasta ahora ha editado dos discos:
- No turning back (2005)
- Love tatoo (2008)
El álbum "No turning back" fue editado bajo el nombre de Imelda Clabby, su nombre de casada y posteriormente reeditado en 2009 ya como Imelda May.
Para todo el que le interese el concierto en Barcelona será el día 21 de noviembre de 2009 en la sala Luz de Gas.
